Festival Artists 2002-2016

Karen Ouzounian

Cellist Karen Ouzounian has performed as chamber musician, recitalist and soloist throughout North America and Europe. Ms. Ouzounian has performed with such ensembles as Trio Cavatina, the Tessera String Quartet, The Knights, the East Coast Chamber Orchestra (ECCO), A Far Cry and the String Orchestra of New York City (SONYC), and has been invited to tour with Musicians from Ravinia's Steans Music Institute in 2013. She has performed throughout the United States and Canada with Icelandic pianist Vikingur Olafsson and appeared as a soloist with Sinfonia Toronto, the Canadian Sinfonietta and the Cathedral Bluffs Symphony Orchestra. She has collaborated with renowned artists including Kim Kashkashian, Gilbert Kalish, Roger Tapping, Charles Neidich, Vera Beths, and members of the Guarneri, Juilliard and St. Lawrence String Quartets. Festivals include Marlboro, Ravinia, the Open Chamber Music Seminar at Prussia Cove (UK), Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (Germany), Canandaigua Lake Music Festival, Perlman Chamber Music Workshop, and Taos. An advocate of contemporary music, Ms. Ouzounian has performed with the Argento Chamber Ensemble, Continuum, and AXIOM, and has worked with composers Helmut Lachenmann, Tristan Murail and Georg Friedrich Haas. She was a top prize winner at the Zara Nelsova Competition for Canadian Cellists in 2011. Ms. Ouzounian holds Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees from The Juilliard School, where she was a student of Timothy Eddy.
