Music theorist and historian Charles Speicher’s teaching and performing engagements include workshops in New Zealand, Canada, Alaska, Ohio, South Carolina, Maine, and New Jersey. In 2006 he was selected as a judge in the Alaska State MTNA piano competition. Chuck freelances regularly on piano and in 2002 traveled with the "Crazy Energy Orchestra" to Morocco to perform at the wedding of King Mohammad VI. He performs regularly throughout the East Coast with jazz guitarist Ritchie Duraney of Downbeat Magazine and has had solo piano performances at New Jersey Festival of the Atlantic, William Patterson University and Montclair State University. In 1989 Chuck was the recipient of the New Jersey State Governor's Award in Arts Education. He is on the faculty of the New England Suzuki Institute. He has taught keyboard harmony at Montclair University, and is currently on the faculty of the Indianapolis Academy of Music Summer Festival and the faculty of the Summer Suzuki workshop held at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ. He has recently accepted the position of curriculum director for Little Kids Rock, the largest non-profit public school music resource in the nation. |
