Eight days to go...
Mona and I set out on Thursday next week (May 21st) for a seven-day, unsupported ride from Philly to Nbpt to raise money for NCMF. 471 miles: the longest trip I’ve done by bicycle. I’ve been clocking big miles, although that can be tricky to work around concerts, rehearsals, and life. Not unlike preparing for a concert, this ride has provided a kind of focused structure over the past six months, imposing its own kind of discipline.

I’m feeling pretty good, especially now that the NCMF 25th Anniversary Castelli jerseys have arrived. If you want one, stop by Riverside Cycles in the Tannery during the month of May. Castelli jerseys are used by pro cycling teams and the Italian Olympic squad and usually sell for $140; we’re selling them for $110 so people can proudly show the colors.

A shout out to owner Tom Reinke at Riverside who has been super supportive of our ride. Stop by to say hello, look at bikes, and support your LBS (local bike shop). I personally order everything I need through my local shop instead of online. The crew at Riverside sell all kinds of bikes and are really friendly.

A reminder that you can follow us with live tracking. If you would like to donate, click on the link below. 135 people have already pitched in, which blows my mind.

We’d love people to join us on the last leg from Framingham to Newburyport on Wednesday, May 27th. We depart that morning (time TBA) from the entrance of the Aloft Hotel, Framingham (130 Worcester Road, Framingham, MA, 01702).
With live tracking, you can hop in anywhere along the route (which is posted here in a downloadable GPX file). We plan to roll into Newburyport between 3:00 and 3:15 pm at Sea Level Oyster Bar (1 Market Square, Nbpt) on Wednesday, May 27th where hizzoner Mayor Reardon will greet us. We hope as many of you as possible will come cheer us in!

A note on our bikes (sorry/not sorry for the technical deep-dive). I’ll be riding a 2025 S-Works Crux with 1x13 SRAM Red AXS E1 XPLR and 35mm Pirelli P-Zero Race tires. Mona is on a 2023 S-Works Aethos with Shimano Di2 and 32mm Continental GP 5000s. We’ll have Tailfin carbon racks, and aim to follow the East Coast Greenway from Philly to avoid cars as much as possible. Nearly 20% of the route is gravel. Pray for clear skies!
Eight days!
