bio

Composer and pianist Ania Vu (née Vu Dang Minh Anh) was invited to be a Composer Fellow at Tanglewood Music Center and two of her pieces have been selected for the “New Music by Living Composers” series with Petrichor Records.  Her music has been performed by the Daedalus and Mivos string quartets, TAK ensemble, International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE), and Iridium Saxophone Quartet.  Upcoming events include a residency at I-Park Foundation, a collaboration with SO percussion, and several solo writing projects.  As a pianist, she performs standard and contemporary repertoire and works of her own and her colleagues.  Of Polish and Vietnamese descent, she currently is a Ph.D. candidate in composition at the University of Pennsylvania and recent teachers include Marcos Balter, James Primosch, and Anna Weesner (NCMF composer-in-residence in 2007). She received a B.M. in composition and theory from the Eastman School of Music.
