Why I won’t jam with my neighbor

Note from David: Baroque Composer Nicola Canzano
Baroque composer Nicola Canzano (Fossacesia, Abruzzo, Italy, via Detroit) will have a world premiere featured as a most special encore on the upcoming Winter Baroque concert on Sunday, December 22nd at 3:00 pm at St. Paul’s. This is no manuscript discovered moldering on a back shelf of a local fishmonger in Venice; rather, it is a bona fide new baroque piece by the composer/harpsichord player born in 1991.
Adjunct professor of harpsichord at Michigan State University, Nicola teaches improvisation and composition in New York and maintains a busy performance schedule as a much in-demand continuo player. In addition to degrees in music and being the accompanist for the Historical Performance department at Juilliard, he also holds advanced degrees in theoretical particle physics from UC Santa Cruz (yes, one of those people…). However, his great love is his little beagle mix, Riley – need I say more?
Nicola will be performing with Cynthia, Nurit, Alessandra, and Eliana as well as giving the world premiere to his piece. It will only be played as an encore so he’ll have to earn it: keep that applause rolling in!
See you this weekend,
David Yang, Artistic Director
